1. What is this product about?
    This policy provides coverage for people traveling abroad or locally, in the event of bodily injuries, disability, or death caused solely by violent, accidental, external and visible events during the trip. This policy also reimburses the expenses incurred as a result of travel inconveniences during the trip.

  2. Who can be Insured?
    Any Malaysians, permanent residents, student pass holder, employment pass/work permit holders and dependent(s) of pass holders for themselves, and/or their spouse and children. Age limit between thirty (30) days and seventy-five (75) years (both ages inclusive).

  3. What is the Period of Cover?
    The Policy shall become effective as of the date stated in the Schedule. Any extension of cover is not allowed during the trip or after you have departed for your destination.

  4.  Is there a maximum period of cover?
    The maximum period of cover is one hundred and twenty (120) consecutive days per trip. For Annual Cover policy, the maximum number of days is limited to one hundred and eighty (180) consecutive days.

  5.  Can I purchase travel insurance after I depart and still be covered?
    You can purchase your travel insurance on the same day before departure. You will not be covered if you buy your travel insurance after you have departed for your trip. However, you are encouraged to buy at least seven (7) days before in order to enjoy the trip cancellation benefit.

  6. Can I extend my policy period after the commencement of my trip?
    No.

  7. Can I buy travel insurance for the trip one year from now?
    Yes.

  8. Can I cancel my policy?
    You may cancel your policy by giving written notice to the insurance company. However, refund of premium is not allowed once the policy is issued unless if you have purchased the annual coverage wherein you shall be entitled for a refund of premium on a pro-rata basis for the period rates of the Policy has been in force provided that no claim has been made.

  9. What are the key terms and conditions I should be aware of?
    1. You are to disclose all material facts which you know or ought to know which will affect the risk profile such as your age and occupation.
    2. Any fraud, deliberate misrepresentation of material facts or non-disclosure of information in connection with the application of this policy or when making a claim will invalidate the policy and benefits, will be forfeited.

  10. Can I buy more than one Travel Insurance policy for the same trip?
    You are not encouraged to purchase more than one policy for the same trip. In the event of you being covered by more than one (1) policy, we will cover you based on the policy which provides the greatest amount of benefit level.

  11. I am travelling to multiple countries, do I need to buy a separate plan for each country?
    If you are travelling to multiple destinations within the same trip, you can be covered under one policy. Please select the countries that you are travelling to.


  12. Can I buy Travel Insurance Annual Plan for working holiday in New Zealand or other countries?
    No, the coverage is only for leisure and/or business purposes. Working holiday is not considered as a leisure or a business trip.

  13. Will I be covered for an illness that I am already suffering from or have suffered in the past?
    No. We do not cover any pre-existing illness.

  14.  Can I continue my follow up medical treatment in Malaysia for injuries sustained overseas?
    Yes. If you suffer from a covered disability while travelling on an overseas trip and subsequently seek follow-up medical treatment following your return from your trip, we will reimburse the medically necessary expenses incurred within 60 days upon arrival to Malaysia, subject to the medical expenses limit specified in the schedule of benefit for Prime plan only.

  15.  Does Travel Insurance cover for natural disasters?
    Yes. Natural disasters including but not limited to volcanic eruption, flood, earthquake, tsunami, hurricane or wildfire are covered events under our policy.

  16. What should I do if the airlines lost my baggage?
    Lodge a report and seek compensation from the airline. You may file in your claim to us for the loss not compensated by the airline.

  17. Can I file a claim if my baggage is stolen where it is left outside the hotel while I am checking in?
    No, we do not cover for loss of baggage left unattended in any public places, as the policy excludes any failure of the insured to take reasonable efforts to safeguard his/her property.

  18.  What do I do if my luggage is delayed by the transport provider? If delay is from return trip?
    SOMPO ezTravel does not cover baggage delay back to home country.

  19. How do I claim for my medical bills when I get sick during my travel? Do you provide medical card?
    There is no medical card provided under medical benefits. You can first pay for your medical bills when you are overseas and make your claims upon your return to Malaysia. You will need to produce an official letter from the doctor and receipt to make your claims.

  20. I need to cut-short my trip because my mother is hospitalized in Malaysia. What am I covered for?
    You will be reimbursed with the reasonable and necessary additional cost of travel, accommodation and the unused and non-refundable expenses which has been paid in advance and not recoverable from any relevant parties.

  21.  Does SOMPO ezTravel cover domestic travelling?
    Yes, domestic is applicable for travelling within Malaysia. 

  22.  Can SOMPO ezTravel be purchased at office counters or from your agents?

  23.  How do I entitle for Early Bird premium?
    You will be entitled to Early Bird premium if you purchase the travel insurance thirty (30) days before travel. However, entitlement for Early Bird Premium is only available for Prime plan only.
